Community Reintegration Program for Brain and Spinal Injury Survivors ... 601-713-1550

Quest is Mississippi's most comprehensive outpatient program designed to help brain and spinal injured patients reintegrate into society. A team of physical, occupational and speech therapists work with physicians and neuropsychologists to help patients improve in a setting that’s more tailored to their individual needs than a hospital environment.

Participants in the Quest program have sustained a brain or spinal cord injury due to trauma, stroke or other neurological problems. Anyone who has difficulties with mobility, cognition, behavior, academics and independent living skills will benefit from the program. Those who wish to participate must express the desire to do one of the following:

  • Independently perform the activities of daily living
  • Volunteer in the community
  • Return to work or school

Prior to admission, each participant is evaluated by a physical, occupational and speech therapist and a neuropsychologist. The Quest staff works together as a cohesive team to design and implement a therapeutic treatment plan which outlines each patient's cognitive and physical deficits and identifies achievable goals.

Treatment plans address these issues:

  • Independent living skills
  • Return to work
  • Support services
  • Educational reentry services
  • Money management
  • Strength and flexibility
  • Memory
  • Social skills
  • Physical reconditioning
  • Planning and goal setting
  • Community outings
  • Counseling
  • Vocational services
  • Job coaching

A primary therapist will serve as an advocate for each patient in the program. Patients and therapists meet weekly to review the treatment plan and discuss any concerns or needs. Therapists also communicate with each patient's family and schedule family conferences as needed.

Program participants are often anxious to drive again. When the client is considered ready, clearance is obtained from a physician and a driving evaluation is performed at Methodist Outpatient Therapy Center on Methodist Rehabilitation Center’s east campus in Flowood.
